Network Engineer Job Description Template/Brief

Network Engineer Responsibilities

  • Create a networking environment by designing system configuration, coordinating system installation, and establishing, documenting, and enforcing system standards
  • Create and deploy innovative ways to increase the present environment's resilience
  • Improve network performance by monitoring performance, resolving network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and working with network architects on network optimisation
  • Investigate data network faults in local and wide-area situations utilising information from many sources
  • Protect network systems by setting and enforcing policies, as well as defining and monitoring access
  • Support and operate firewall environments per IT security policy report network operational status by gathering and prioritising information and project management
  • Update data network equipment to the most recent stable firmware updates
  • Set up routing and switching equipment, as well as hosted IP voice services and firewalls
  • Give on-site engineers and end-users/customers with remote help throughout the installation
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and fault discovery if problems arise during the first installation
  • Control capacity and audit IP addressing and hosted devices within data centres
  • Maintain regular contact with project management teams, third-line engineers, and service desk engineers
  • Contact consumers via email and phone to gather the first requirements

Network Engineer Requirements & Skills

  • Previous experience as a Network Engineer
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject
  • Cisco certifications, such as the CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP
  • Practical experience with HP, Fortinet, or Cisco equipment
  • Superior organisational and time management abilities
  • Problem solver who is analytical and data-driven
